Pete Minall - In Front of the Camera

I have been appearing in Movies. Adverts, Promotional films, Rock Videos and on TV since 1980.

Each bit of filming has always been really interesting and great fun accompanied with fantastic food and amazing locations.

My work has been through various Agencies across the years although for the last ten years my main agent and the majority of my wok has been here in Cornwall.

Mostly, my appearances have been non speaking as a Supporting Artiste which is the new posh name for an Extra!

Those "blink and you miss me" moments.

I do rather appear to have cornered the market as a Cornish fisherman. I have also made over twenty appearances in TV films for German Television in a series of films based on the books of Rosamunde Pilcher.

I have appeared in six series of Doc Martin and both Fisherman's Friends films, one even singing a solo as a failed auditionee for the band.

I have had numerous occasions where I have uttered a few words and even a couple of projects with lots of dialogue.

Companies I have worked for include Amazon, The BBC, FFP Productions, ITV, Netflix. Walt Disney and Warner Brothers.

There have been multiple independent companies as well.

The list of projects I have worked on is very long and pictured below is just a small sample.

The Rose of Nevada (2025)

A Mark Jenkin production for Film4

This is a time travelling Sci-Fi movie. I filmed this in Mullion Cove, Cornwall.

Below I am with actor George Mackay from "1917"

To the left I am on location at Dorchester Prison in Dorset filming a Cinema Ad for Tango, the soft drink.

Pieces of Us (2025)

To the right, this is a locationfrom this film. Here I was an Art Gallery patron. This location is at Penwith in West Cornwall

Captain Sabretooth and the Rama Lama Treasure (2014)

Location filming was at Charlestown, Cornwall for this Pirate adventure made by Walt Disney. I played a Merchant.

The Coroner (2016)

A BBC detective series. In this episode I was a mourner. The series starred Claire Goose

These three pictures are from a series of films from the stories of Rosamunde Pilcher. They are all set in Cornwall. I have made many friends over the years appearing in these productions. They are made by FFP and I have been lucky enough to have made over twenty of them since 2014. Roles have ranged from a Brewery Manager and Wedding Guest to a pubs dart player and of course many appearances as a Cornish Fisherman

The Winter King (2023)

An Arthurian, fantasy TV series. My scenes as a village Dyer were filmed on location in Bristol in a beautifully constructed set.

Frontier (2017)

This series for Netflix starred Jason Momoa and Alun Armstrong and was set against a backdrop of the North American/Canadian fur trade, my scenes were filmed at Charlestown Harbour, Cornwall.

Soho!  (1985)

This was a very early appearance in a drama documentary made by an old theatrical actor friend of mine, Chris Harris for HTV Productions in Bristol. It was about the Monmouth Rebellion and the Battle of Sedgemoor

His Dark Materials (2019)

This series was a Co-Pro between New Line Cinema/BBC/HBO

I worked for a couple of weeks on this project and was delighted to have met and worked with Lin-Manuel Miranda, the writer of the Musical "Hamilton".

I played a whaler above the Arctic circle although the scenes were filmed in the Brecon Beacons.

Fisherman's Friends 1 and 2  ~  (2019 & 2022)

I had various scenes in the first feature film by Powderkeg Productions and in the second I can be seen and heard singing two songs as a failed auditionee to join the group. I sang the folk songs, "Camborne Hill" and "Cockles and Mussels".

Long Ago in Gauwn (2019)

A passion project filmed by a friend of mine and her son. This sweeping medieval story was filmed across Cornwall over a few years. A great project and bunch of people to be associated with!

Doc Martin (2010 to 2021)

This was a special series for me and was made by Buffalo Productions for ITV. Altogether I appeared in many episodes over six series of the show.

I had previously worked in theatre with Martin Clunes and Ian McNeice and it was lovely renewing acquaintanceships. I formed so many friendships across the years of working on this production and we all became the Doc Martin Family.

Julius Caesar -

The Making of a Dictator (2023)

I was involved with the filming of this BBC series at a replica Roman Villa in Somerset. In one scene I was a beggar pleading with Caesar for alms. Great fun rummaging for food on my hands and knees in a pile of rubbish...

The Devils Hour ~

Series 1 and 2 (2022 and 2024)

My scenes were filmed in Shepton Mallet prison where I was a prisoner. The series starred Peter Capaldi and was a dark crime/thriller with a supernatural element. A very underrated production for the BBC

Don't Forget the Driver (2019)

This BBC2 comedy series starred Toby Jones as a coach driver who discovers a young asylum seeker hiding on his coach. I filmed my scenes at a London Football ground, A model Village in Dorset and at Longcross Studios.

Beyond Paradise (2023 - 2025)

This BBC spin off series is set in Devon but filmed in Cornwall. So far I have appeared in three series of this production and I hope it will run for many years to come. On the left I can be seen with actress Sheila Reid who most people know from the comedy "Benidorm". Sheila and I have a good mutual friend who was also in Doc Martin. We are shown in the 2023 Christmas special here. I can usually be spotted as, you have guessed it, a Cornish Fisherman!

Bad Education ~ The Movie (2015)

This fun movie by Tiger Aspect Productions was a spin off from the popular TV series starring Jack Whitehall.

In this one I played a Cornish Liberation Army member under the control of Iain Glen (below left) who at the time was between series of Game of Thrones.

We had a couple of weeks of fun zooming around near Mevagissey in Cornwall at various locations.

Santa

(2023 and 2024)

I really enjoyed my two years playing a shipwrecked, seas-sick Santa at the Shipwreck/Treasure Museum in Charlestown in Cornwall.

One of the most satisfying and pleasurable roles I have done.
